A native of Southern California, Richard White relocated to the Midwest to attend the University of Nebraska where he earned the Regent's Scholarship and was honored as Graduate of Distinction. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, Richard accepted a Junior Designer position with Omaha Interior Design Firm David M. Rice, Inc., of which he is now President.
Richard is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers, having served on the Board of Directors, as Newsletter Editor, as Showhouse Chair and three times as Showhouse Associate Chair. He is certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification. He is a five time recipient of the ASID Presidential Citation and numerous Service Awards. Richard is also active in various Omaha Arts and philanthropic organizations.
He has worked with Boy's Town, Joslyn Art Museum, Joslyn Castle, Nebraska AIDS Project, Omaha Community Playhouse, Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, River City Mixed Chorus and YWCA. His work has been published both in local and national publications. He is credited with saving and rehabilitating several aged buildings, including the historic Zabriski Carriage House in the Bemis Park area. Richard's design work has received awards and acclaim, most notably the coveted ASID Project Design Awards bestowed by one's own peers.
